Arsenal fans may have breathed a sigh of relief when the transfer when the transfer window shut with Alexis Sanchez safely still an Arsenal player but the reprieve looks to be short lived as Real Madrid are likely to lodge a serious effort to get the star player in January if reports in Spain are to be believed.
Zindane has apparently asked Real president Florentino Perez to go and get Sanchez as soon as the transfer windows opens again. Sanchez made no secret of his desire to leave Arsenal and has only played a bit part so far this season.
Real have had a fairly tough start to the season and have struggled for goals in the absence of Karim Benzema. Having only won 2 of their opening 5 games in La Liga, Real find themselves in 8th position in the table.
They are likely to be looking for a striker in January and Sanchez may question the wisdom of a move there with so many high class players already at the club in his position. A more likely destination is Manchester City.
Arsene Wenger is apparently determined to hang onto Sanchez until the summer despite his contract being up which would allow him to leave for nothing. This may also be a preferable choice for the player as he can expect bumper wages from any potential suitors because there will be no transfer fee. He will find himself in a very strong position to negotiate in the summer.
